About the organiser

DOR- Romanian Diaspora is an organisation of Romanians in the United Kingdom that supports diaspora communities across the Midlands and nationally. We believe in the potential of the Romanian community abroad and provide opportunities for learning, integration, and cultural expression, both online and offline.

Romanians in Birmingham- Rooted and Thriving is one of DOR’s projects that aims to build a strong community of Romanian entrepreneurs in Greater Birmingham. Backed by a core funding grant from the Barrow Cadbury Trust, this is about visibility, pride, and progress. This project will:
  1. Increase economic visibility
  2. Provide accessible resources
  3. Strengthen community pride and unity
  4. Encourage intercultural exchange

Why They’re Supporting Rooted and Thriving

We are really excited to be working alongside DOR in their efforts to dismantle systemic barriers faced by Romanian migrants and other marginalised communities in Birmingham. DOR will be part of a wider learning group of organisations that are all keen to examine the interplay between issues of economic and racial justice.

Asif Afridi brap

Rooted and Thriving builds on the experience we have accumulated at BRIDCON in working with and for the Romanian community. We believe this project will offer new tools for economic empowerment and civic participation, making our community’s contributions to Birmingham’s life and future even more visible and valued.
